As a food photographer, there are projects that land in your lap and just feel “right”. Jason’s Deli was one of those. It’s been a longtime favorite of mine, a place I’ve genuinely loved grabbing lunch with friends or treating myself to a comforting meal. So when the opportunity came up to help reimagine their new menu photography, I jumped at it.
From the start, the ask was clear and exciting: modern, graphic visuals with clean, crisp lighting, seamless environments, and looser, more relaxed food styling. It was about bringing a fresh, updated aesthetic to their classic menu, without losing the heart of what makes Jason’s Deli so beloved. The team didn’t just want pretty pictures, they wanted food that “felt" real, alive, and just a little unruly in the best possible way.
What made this project stand out even more was the creative freedom we were given. The Jason’s Deli team encouraged us to push past traditional boundaries, and lean into “messy” in a way that actually elevates the shot. Melty cheese drips, scattered crumbs, that extra swipe of sauce. All the things that usually end up cleaned up on set became heroes of the frame. It’s been so refreshing to let go of perfection and explore realism in a way that feels honest, graphic, and totally delicious.
Working with the Jason’s Deli crew has been an absolute blast. They’ve been collaborative, open, and always bring great energy to set. There’s so much laughter and genuine fun between takes that make it the kind of shoot you leave feeling inspired and grateful to do what you do.
This has been one of those rare projects where the food, the people, and the creative direction all align. It’s so exciting to walk in the deli, seeing the new visuals out in the world, and I’m even more excited to keep capturing the bold, crave-able spirit of Jason’s Deli with this incredible team.
Here’s to great food and even better partnerships. 🍴📸
